I’m an 80’s kid, growing up in Shah Alam, a suburb south of Kuala Lumpur in a family of 4 (Dad, Mom and older brother). Back then schools were pretty limited in our area, so I spent half of my life commuting to Subang Jaya for a fair share of my life’s education. I was never a cool kid in school (not that it matters cos I ain’t cool right now either) but studying abroad sure made me a stronger, more independent person.
Having been overseas on a youth exchange program in 1999 to Japan and pursuing my degree in Australia in 2002, I’ve grown to love traveling and picking up on how awesome the world is; beautiful and unique–each culture is depicted in the people and their language. I love to travel and see new places, and my current job allows me to make a living and satisfy my curiosity to see the world. To date (and growing) I’ve been to 15 countries in over 4 continents. Follow my travelogue for my adventures!
Over the years I’ve also developed a love for baking and cake decorating. Those who know me very well know just how much passion I have in this area. I must say I also enjoy DIY, be it decorative crafts to items that help organise our lives. If I could choose something to pick up and learn next, I’d say it’d be sewing.
My career began as a trainee in a Japanese electronics company as a buyer in the purchasing department. Everyday, my friends were capacitors, switches, ICs, transistors, batteries–boy, I thought to myself, how long can I do this? I soon jumped ship into a totally different industry, MICE. Been in this line for 5 years, and never looked back since. I now produce seaport related conferences and travel 6 times a year to the continents of Asia, Africa and Australia to run these events.
Jazz. I love jazz and swing. If I could pick a CD that I play over and over and over again, it’d be Michael Buble. He rawks.
I married my soulmate on the 8th of March 2008 and the journey has been amazing. Getting hitched was the best thing that ever happened to me. Growing up in Kajang, Dave is a geek and a great husband and my best friend. He owns and runs Buzzmedia as the Chief Geek and Marketing Consultant and works from the comfort of our Kota Kemuning home.
We are expecting our first child in April 2010! God has blessed us with a baby boy and we can’t wait for his arrival. Soon, there will be 3 of us.
My blog is circled around 3 key themes. I love to share recipes and ideas from all my culinary adventures. I also love to share my travel highs and lows, hiccups and pick ups and the memories from the places I’ve been to. But most of all, my blog is about my family and my journey in life. I hope you’ll enjoy reading!
XOXO,
Pei Chyi
